Alchemist in the Anatomy Lab

Inspired by small-scale memento mori sculpture from the 16th century, I have created a series of contemporary anatomical jewellery pieces inspired and informed by me medical illustration practice.

This is a selection of my biomedical jewellery and small scale sculpture including work I created during my one year studio residency at St Vincent’s Hospital during 2010. The work reflects traditional techniques and classical design but is placed squarely in this modern era of unprecedented health self-awareness and information, reflecting the curiosity and interest we have in the increasingly less foreign territory of our bodies.
